The Other Half of the Grave by Jeaniene Frost Night Huntress 1。1 but written after a dozen of the various series books。 The same story as Halfway to the Grave but from Bone’s perspective。 An amateur female vampire Hunter tries to kill Bones and he’s more amused than worried。 She’s determined and strong and apparently half vampire。 A practically unheard of existence。 He becomes enamored and they work together to eliminate his enemies。 I wouldn’t recommend reading this directly after the first boo The Other Half of the Grave by Jeaniene Frost Night Huntress 1。1 but written after a dozen of the various series books。 The same story as Halfway to the Grave but from Bone’s perspective。 An amateur female vampire Hunter tries to kill Bones and he’s more amused than worried。 She’s determined and strong and apparently half vampire。 A practically unheard of existence。 He becomes enamored and they work together to eliminate his enemies。 I wouldn’t recommend reading this directly after the first book because it’s the same story。 It has been updated for current technology but you don’t want to skip parts because you think you know what’s going to happen。I would recommend reading this for anyone that’s read part of the series。 It’s AWESOME getting Bone’s perspective。 We’re feeling his emotions from the depth of his hurt at a casual word from Cat or his pride in her training。 The sheer joy he feels when she admits to caring for him and his despair when she can’t say the words。 Being in his head made this world complete and incredibly moving。 LOVED it so much。 I don’t generally reread books because of the number of new books I have yet to read。 But I can see rereading, or listening to this on a regular basis。 Even though there are tragic and sorrowful events in this first book, the magnitude of his love is so big, it makes it an epic love story。 While still killing the bad guy vampires。 I received a copy of this from NetGalley。 I have purchased a copy to keep as well。 。。。more

I'm generally not a big reader of alternate POV from published material -- I've seen it done badly and with too many repetitive scenes and dialogue, so even though I adore this series and Cat and Bones, I was a little hesitant about reading The Other Half of the Grave。 I'm happy to say I absolutely loved this book。 Even though most readers will know this story from reading Cat's version of how she met Bones and the things they got into, Bones' version was fresh and interesting and just as entert I'm generally not a big reader of alternate POV from published material -- I've seen it done badly and with too many repetitive scenes and dialogue, so even though I adore this series and Cat and Bones, I was a little hesitant about reading The Other Half of the Grave。 I'm happy to say I absolutely loved this book。 Even though most readers will know this story from reading Cat's version of how she met Bones and the things they got into, Bones' version was fresh and interesting and just as entertaining as Cat's point of view。 Maybe it was just that it was a long time since I read Cat's version in Halfway To the Grave, but I really loved reading Bones point of view。 There is a reason we all love the Bones, and it's on the pages of this book in spades。 (haha)If you haven't read the original series in Cat's point of view, I definitely recommend reading that first before reading Bones POV。 What I found most interesting was reading how Bones processed his feelings, and I've always loved this character for the fact that he does have that one vulnerability -- his love for Cat。 That comes through so very well in this book。 I love it when the male character in a romance falls hard and Bones love for Cat just shines through here。The author does a great job of giving the reader more than just a rehash of the original material。 There are some new scenes the reader didn't get in the Cat point of view which made this an all the more worthwhile readSo, I just loved this。 As a longtime fan of the Cat and Bones series, The Other Half of the Grave adds more to the love story that is Cat and Bones。 It made me want to re-read the entire series again。 Readers of the series, you're going to want to grab a copy of this。 And if you haven't read this exciting paranormal romance series you should get on it。 It's terrific -- one of the best out there, and be sure to pick up a copy of The Other Half of the Grave too! 。。。more

Or how their story might differ if he were the one telling it? Now, relive the beginning of Cat and Bones' bestselling love story through Bones' point of view, which reveals a darker, sexier take on their early days, as well as a deeper dive into Bones' past, the vampire world, and other things that Cat didn't see when their story was told only through her eyes in Halfway to the Grave。 Cat had her say。 Now, it's Bones' turn。𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄Get ready to journey in a cocky snarky vampire brain …It was a struggle to not read this book sooner but I had other reviews due before。I have only read the first books, and many years ago, and only the French translation, as it was before I switched to read only English books, I know I have the others somewhere on my shelves but at a time, I came to read so many arcs I have few to no more room for all the books awaiting a moment from me。As this story is the second voice from the first book, I was much curious to get Bones’ side of the story, and oh my!What a read…If I had more time, I would have read the two books in parallel, I did it for some parts, and it was so fun。 Being in Bones’ head is even more entertaining than I expected, much more than Cat who was struggling with herself being who she is, two halves not ready to accept each piece of herself。 While Bones is patient, he acknowledges immediately his feelings and let her grow accustomed with him, to trust him which is no easy task。« she was fantasizing about ripping both of her weapons through his heart while he was feeling things he’d only heard of before, but who said romance was perfect? »This book was just awesome, a must read to not miss after the first two books, navigating Bones’ thoughts is like a high speed ride, he protects but also covets and rescues。 The other side of the coin is as cynical and haughty as Cat’s version with a tenderness for the wounded woman and a lot of anger turned toward those who hurt her。« The rest would have to wait until she looked at him and saw a man instead of a monster…and looked at herself and saw a woman instead of a sin to atone for。 »I can only recommend to read this book after the first two in the series, it will offer a different perspective of the story as Bones past is of course a bit more explained but it is how he handled his feelings for Cat。5 stars𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 onscreen lovemaking scenesI have been granted an advance copy by the author, here is my true and unbiased opinion。https://www。instagram。com/tv/CcqutUiD。。。https://www。facebook。com/429830134272。。。#bookstagram #historicalromance #romance #romancebookblog #romancebookblogger #bookblog #romanceauthor #bookblogger #2022read #bookstagrammer #bookreview #romancebookreviewer #arcreader #bookquote #romancestagram #readersofinstagram 。。。more

I wasn't sure。 However, I quite liked the idea of getting to know one of my all time favorite stories from a different perspective。 So, when I saw the book on Netgalley, I was quick to request it and was over the moon excited when I got accepted, but there was still this little voice in my head that kept whispering about the what if's。。。 What if I don't like it? What if the instalove trope (which I normally hate) ruins it for me? What if I'm bored reading it because I know the story? What if, what if。。。Well, I'm glad to report that reading The Other Half of the Grave felt more like coming home after a long trip and rediscovering the comfort of your home from a new perspective。 You settle in with a newfound love because you rediscover why your home feels so much like home to you and then love it all the more for it。 That's what reading this book was like。 I loved experiencing things through Bones' eyes。 His admiration of and unconditional love for Cat, warmed my heart。 Whereas I was afraid of not liking it beforehand because Bones fell almost instantly for Cat, never once did it bother me while reading。 If anything, it touched me that he instantly saw her courage, braveness, fierceness, kindness and all of her other qualities from the get go and loved her all the more for it。 Getting to read how he cared for her, believed in her from the start, and tried helping her sort through her own negative self image in often times very subtle ways that worked for her。。。 All of this while, as he put it, being cut by her predisposed hatred of vampires and therefore him, made my heart bleed and put it back together at the same time。 It made me love him even more that he kept showing up for her, even though she kept hurting him without really realizing most of the time。 Him seeing her true nature and loving her all the more for it, in a way even knowing her better than she knows herself, seeing through her defense mechanisms and helping her getting through them slowly while always being a gentleman and respecting her pace, never pushing her past what she could handle at that particular moment in time。 I was worried about not liking Bones anymore after reading this book。 Well, I should've been worried about how much more I'd fall in love with him instead! Through Bones, I also began to see Cat in an entirely different light and loved her all the more for it。 I finally started to get what people mean when they say others see more good in you than you do in yourself sometimes。Honestly, Bones is a class act。 Except when it comes to cover hogs。 He will not, and I repeat, he will NOT let that one go! I giggled every time he subtly hinted at Cat's cover hog abilities。 Then again, I laughed out loud at so much more。 One of the reasons why I love Jeaniene Frost's books so much is the way her writing style is infused by humor。 The sarcasm makes me laugh out loud multiple times when reading any of her books, and this one delivered just as much on that front。Of course, the world she build, we all already knew and loved, but I especially enjoyed reading the things we didn't already know before because Cat didn't know them。 I loved that The Other Half of the Grave not only showed us Bones' POV but also added onto the story by giving us extra tidbits of information。Being back in this world, seeing it through Bones' eyes was a treat like no other。 So I want to thank Jeaniene Frost for writing this book in the first place and also for granting me an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review。 You have made me one happy lady these past few days! Thank you! 。。。more

The Night Huntress series is one of my all time favorite series in the PNR/UF genre。 I’ve read the first 4 books at least three times, and when I saw Frost was writing from Bones’ POV I knew I had to read it。The Other Half of the Grave was so good! Yes it’s the “same story” as Halfway to the Grave but it’s different because you get to feel what Bones was feeling and hear what he was thinking。 After all, every story has two sides。In Halfway to the Grave we see the story unfold through Cat’s eyes。 She young (22) and naive in many ways。 She’s only had one other lover and that was a horrible one night experience with a guy who she thought cared for her。 Sure she knows about vampires since she’s half but her mum has poisoned her against them and in turn made her hate herself。 So it’s natural that she would be unsure of her feelings for Bones and think there was no way he would care for her。 Bones in Cat’s eyes came off as this cocky, sexy Brit, full of himself and must have had tons of lovers。In The Other Half of the Grave we get to see Bones is just as insecure about Cat’s feelings about him as she was in her version of their story。 Bones is 200+ years old, he should be cocky and self aware, right? Like Cat, he’s never been in love and never thought he would be。 But here comes along Cat, a woman much too young for him (LOL) and she grabs him by Lucifer’s Bouncing Balls from the first night they meet, with her trying to kill him。If you’re a fan of the Night Huntress series then you know that Bones is mad in love with Cat and she him。 So it was fun, sweet, and heartbreaking to experience the being of their love story through his eyes。 We also get to see somethings through scenes when Cat is not around。 While we wondered what he was doing in Halfway to the Grave, we now know and how he was feeling during some of the scenes with Cat。 We could see they were falling in love with each other but we (like Cat) didn’t know he was in love with her from the every being。The Other Half of the Grave is a MUST read for fans and if you have never started the series it’s a great way to jump into the world。 I plan on rereading it in tandem with Halfway to the Grave in the very near future。 。。。more

So, this re-telling of the meeting/ start for the series between Cat and Bones being told from Bones perspective was a real treat! For starters, one does not need to have read the read of the series to start here。 We are given an event by event re-telling of Halfway to the Grave, but just from the MMC’s perspective, other than the MFC (Cat) as the original series perspective。I lived getting Bones’ thoughts and processes from his side。 One of the main things that bothered me about the Night Huntress series was the one-sided narration。 There is a lot going on in this story, so having both side of the coin revealed was very revealing。 On the flip side, still reading this story from one perspective, did leave me wishing that is just told in a dual narration format。This book was like reading a blast from that past, and as I was going through it, I found myself anxiously awaiting specific events and happily seeing them from this alternate side。 Also, speaking of the past, I could’t help keeping a lookout for time period specific details that matched up with the original 2007 story。 That was 15 years ago- mind blown! One thing that I didn’t love about this retelling was Cat’s representation。 She seemed really whiney and lacked the strong, independent, kick-butt attitude that personifies Cat for me。 BUT I will say, that I think a re-read of Halfway to the Grave would be the true tell in this situation。 She is new and learning her strengths and abilities ere, so I will also chalk this up to her character not being the fully developed Cat that we see as the series progresses。Overall, this was great addition to the Night Huntress series! As a fan of Bones, I loved getting an all Bones book and I would definitely be on board to have the next book retold from his side! The Other Half of the Grave by Jeaniene Frost is scheduled to release April 26th, 2022。I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author through NetGalley。 Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own。Blog: https://pinkcowlandreads。blogspot。com。。。#TheOtherHalfoftheGrave #JeanieneFrost #NetGalley #pinkcowlandreads 。。。more

I inhaled the Night Huntress series back in the summer of 2017, working my way through the seven books of the initial series as well as a bunch of spin-offs。 I was absolutely entranced by the world Jeaniene Frost created and it quickly became one of my favorite paranormal romance stories。 One of the things I really liked about the books was that (for the most part) the stories are told solely from the heroine’s first-person point of view。 But of course I (and pretty much everyone else who’s read I inhaled the Night Huntress series back in the summer of 2017, working my way through the seven books of the initial series as well as a bunch of spin-offs。 I was absolutely entranced by the world Jeaniene Frost created and it quickly became one of my favorite paranormal romance stories。 One of the things I really liked about the books was that (for the most part) the stories are told solely from the heroine’s first-person point of view。 But of course I (and pretty much everyone else who’s read the book) have always wanted a peek at inside the hero’s head, especially for pivotal events。 So I was greatly amused by the author posting the first bits of Bone’s POV on her blog, and pleasantly surprised when she announced that she’d be publishing a whole book。 But would reading the book from Bones’ viewpoint be interesting enough to outweigh the fact that I’d quite literally read it before?“She was a brash, brave, foul-mouthed, murdering drunk, and God help him, he hadn’t found anyone this enticing in centuries。”
The short answer? Yes, for the most part, it works out。 The insta-love between Bones and Cat is, well, still insta-lovey, but it at least explains a little better what about Cat first caught his eye。 It also sets the stage for some some epic pining (along with some very sweet – and confused – musings about what makes her so special)。 I always got the sense that Bones had a very good understanding of what Cat was going through, and this book makes it clear that frankly he had a much better understanding of Cat herself than she did for quite a while。 Experiencing everything Cat went through from her perspective was heartbreaking, but in some ways experiencing it through Bones’ is equally jarring。 He cares so much for her and treasures her uniqueness, but for her it’s only a source of shame。 That’s not to say it’s all endless pining。 Not surprisingly, he’s also quite funny, especially when he’s feeling exceedingly murderous about Cat’s mom。The book isn’t a complete copy-and-paste retelling。 There are extra scenes, from the expected “what the heck was Bones doing when he was off-page?” to a few new scenes between Bones and Cat。 It was charming to see how Bones reacted to figuring out he was in insta-love with Cat (he calls Charles!) and the scenes between him and Ian were hilarious as well。 It also fixes some of the, uh, late nought UF language that didn’t age particularly well。“Weakness was fleeting。 Vengeance was forever。”
Overall, finishing this book up did make me want to jump into a massive series reread。 I wouldn’t recommend this as a good entry-point to the series, but rather the cherry on top to Cat’s finished (for now?) series。 Highly recommended for any Cat & Bones fan!I received an advance review copy of this book from NetGalley。 This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review。Content notes: (view spoiler)[violence (including murder), blood-drinking, suicide (off-page), toxic family, slutshaming, sexual assaul (before book, but recounted), alcohol, drug use (hide spoiler)] 。。。more

This is the first book of this series told totally from Bones POV。 We get to see what happened from his eyes and how the famous vampire fell for a hybrid whose sass and beauty brought him to his knees。 When a pretty little woman kills Bone’s target, he knows something is wrong。 The way she kills, with complete practice, makes him think that she is the enemy sent to kill him as well。 But nothing could have prepared him for the truth。 The woman in front of him is an enigma。 She is a hybrid。 She seems human but has half vampire blood and has vowed to kill all scum, which according to her is all the vampires。 Bones is determined to keep her for himself。 She is his weapon。 And eventually she will just be his。 Now it's up to him to convince her of the fact that not all vampires are trash and if given a chance, he could make her fall for him as well。 Overall Opinion : The amount of nostalgia I had while reading this!!! It's been years since I read this series and to be back in it was amazing。 Bones and cat are my favorite people ever because of their light humor and steam。 Their story was amazing and to see it from Bone's eyes? That was legit gold。 The story is almost the same from Bone's eyes apart from a few extra scenes here and there。 I liked seeing the way he fell for her and the ending again made me sad because I remembered how and why that happened。 Now I totally want to read the whole series from his eyes 😂 we get to meet our beloved side characters again that came in the first book of the series。 After reading this book I have such a strong urge to read the whole series again。 It's been awhile since I did read it so I might just do that。 Definitely recommending this book to all the hardcore lovers of this series。 If you loved this series as much as me then definitely do not miss this book by Bone's as it is the missing part which will push this series from amazing to an extraordinary category! This is for the fans of Ms。 Frost’s Night Huntress Series。 The Night Huntress Series is the story of Cat and Bones and starts with “Halfway to the Grave “。 Cat is a 21-year-old college student who is half human, half vampire and has grown up hating and killing vampires。 She comes across Bones who is a Master Vampire and tries to kill him but can’t。 He then decides to train her and make her his partner in killing “bad” vampires (as he is a bounty hunter of vampires)。 Halfway to the Grave was writ This is for the fans of Ms。 Frost’s Night Huntress Series。 The Night Huntress Series is the story of Cat and Bones and starts with “Halfway to the Grave “。 Cat is a 21-year-old college student who is half human, half vampire and has grown up hating and killing vampires。 She comes across Bones who is a Master Vampire and tries to kill him but can’t。 He then decides to train her and make her his partner in killing “bad” vampires (as he is a bounty hunter of vampires)。 Halfway to the Grave was written 15 years ago purely from Cat’s perspective。 The Other Half of the Grave is the same story told from Bones perspective。I read Halfway to the Grave a long time ago and I have to say I really enjoyed reading this book。 It was well written; the story was generally consistent, and things were a lot more interesting from Bones POV。 After I finished it, I went back and reread Halfway to the Grave to compare, and I have to say I liked this rendition more。 The first book is lacking emotion, and in fact, we don’t get much emotion from Cat。 The original felt more like a recitation of event than a good connection between the characters (this from someone who liked the original)。 This book had more emotional oomph and one really felt for Bones。 It also had a lot more nuance。 It may be that Ms。 Frost has grown as a writer in the last 15 years。 I would recommend this book。 I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review。 All thoughts and opinions are my own。 。。。more

As a huge fan of Night Huntress (I will never confess to how many times I have read the series) I have been counting down to Bone's POV since I heard it was a possibility。 After all Bones is my all time favorite vampire。 I am not sure if it is because he is a Brit, his gorgeousness or his love of Cat, but I can't resist Bones。 The other half of the Grave not only gave me Bone's POV, but allowed me to get in his head thanks to the author。 She shared what he was thinking。 It really added to the st As a huge fan of Night Huntress (I will never confess to how many times I have read the series) I have been counting down to Bone's POV since I heard it was a possibility。 After all Bones is my all time favorite vampire。 I am not sure if it is because he is a Brit, his gorgeousness or his love of Cat, but I can't resist Bones。 The other half of the Grave not only gave me Bone's POV, but allowed me to get in his head thanks to the author。 She shared what he was thinking。 It really added to the story。 The story was packed full of action。 Bones is sort of a vampire bounty hunter。 He comes across some really interesting characters that never just surrender。 While searching he comes across Cat。 He is not impressed with her until he gets to know her。 Who would have thought a person like her existed。 He is besotted。 He is in love。 She can't stand him, at least in the beginning。 You don't have to like your partner, to work together。 Action hits the extreme。 Bullets Fly。 Knives are thrown。 Bones and Cat end up in the thick of things。 There will be consequences。 Will it destroy their love or make it stronger?I needed more Bones and Cat when I finished the story。 I went back and read Halfway to the Grave and then read The Other Half of the Grave。 Now I am thinking about alternating both books。 I can't think of the last time I have been so completely satisfied with a book, refusing to move on。 。。。more

Wow! What a powerful love story。 Even though I had read and loved Halfway to the Grave, I enjoyed The Other Half of the Grave as if thrilling with the action and excitement for the first time。Cat was filled with such self-loathing because of her mother’s bigoted indoctrination against Cat’s half-vampire heritage。 Bones was determined to show her that she was special, valued, and worthy and that good and evil existed on both sides of the human/vampire divide。 Bones’ perspective embodies longing, Wow! (ARC provided by the publisher through NetGalley; opinions are my own。)The Night Huntress series is a favorite of mine, though its been quite awhile since I've read it。 Cat and Bones are an amazing couple。 I considered rereading book one before reading this version of book one from Bone's POV but decided not to (mostly because I was too impatient to read this book)。 This book can be read as a standalone, but I don't recommend it。 Cat comes off a bit annoying at times, and without her POV, you wo (ARC provided by the publisher through NetGalley; opinions are my own。)The Night Huntress series is a favorite of mine, though its been quite awhile since I've read it。 Cat and Bones are an amazing couple。 I considered rereading book one before reading this version of book one from Bone's POV but decided not to (mostly because I was too impatient to read this book)。 This book can be read as a standalone, but I don't recommend it。 Cat comes off a bit annoying at times, and without her POV, you wouldn't understand fully why she acts the way she does。 With the series from her POV, she is a much more likable character。 She does come around with regard to her vampire prejudices and becomes an amazing heroine。 This time we get to be inside Bones' head when they meet and start working together。 I loved his inner thoughts and possessive, vengeful nature。 I laughed all over again, and very much want to reread the entire series, especially after the ending (yes, even though I know what happens)。 The epilogue was a great addition, which was actually a scene from book two。 It wrapped things up better for this book and makes you want to read the next book right away。 Bones is one my favorite vampire characters of all time, and he really shines here。 He's funny, possessive, tough and caring。 He can handle almost anything, but not a certain red head that steals his heart from the moment he meets her。 Yes, I will definitely be rereading this entire series soon。 。。。more
